iDive is an active diver training and social diving club. We have our own instructors for both diver and dive boat training. We loan out dive equipment for diver pool training and initial sea diving. We have two dive boats and we organise many dives each year around the UK and abroad. In my opinion, there is nothing more exhilarating and relaxing than drifting along a reef wall enjoying the thousands of beautiful fish and marine corals or cavorting with seals in UK waters.
Learning to dive with iDive
We are a BSAC (British Sub Aqua Club) affiliated club (not a commercial organisation) and we train divers to BSAC standards. Our own qualified instructors can teach: initial diver training in our pool and in the sea; advanced diver training up to Advance Diver; dry suit training; advanced decompression procedures; boat handling and diver coxswain etc. Diving equipment (e.g. cylinder, buoyancy aids etc) is provided as part of our initial training package and can also be hired for your first few sea dives. We train novice divers in our pool in Ipswich on a Thursday evening and in sheltered waters in and around the UK. We encourage our members to become diving instructors to help train future divers.
BSAC offer their own online and ‘BSAC centre’ dive courses and we can mix and match these with our own training. Other dive organisation (e.g., PADI, SSI) qualifications are respected and we offer ‘cross over’ from these organisations to BSAC qualifications.
If you are not sure if you would enjoy diving, we offer ‘try dives’, for a small fee, where you can try out diving with an aqualung safely in our pool with a qualified instructor.
Diving with iDive
Our passion is diving and we organise dive trips, at cost, around the UK and abroad. Some of these trips use commercial dive boats but we also have our own dive boats (rigid inflatable boats or RIBs) which are insured for diving up to 20 miles off the UK coastline. Our dive boats are equipped with safety equipment such as radios, flares, oxygen, defibrillators etc.
We are passionate about protecting our seas and enjoying the diverse marine life and underwater habitats (including wrecks) around the UK and overseas. Our club gives us the ability to learn new skills in a safe and supportive environment, explore new and fascinating underwater environments, and enjoy meeting like-minded people and visiting beautiful holiday locations around the UK and overseas.
We organise dives all around the UK: Farne Islands (Northumberland); Cornwall; Dorset; Pembrokeshire; Scotland and off Suffolk and Norfolk etc. Overseas dive trips have been organised to: Egypt; Malta; the Canary Islands; Mexico etc.
We train our divers to use our dive boats and also to organise and run diving trips using both our own boats and commercial boats.
If you are interested in diving then please come down to Forestreet Pool in Ipswich. We meet every Thursday at 7:30 pm. Please visit our website for more details, including contact details Home – iDive
Learning to scuba dive can be a life-changing experience, bringing a whole host of exciting underwater opportunities and friends to enjoy them with.
From beginner to advanced, iDive provides the full BSAC training programme enabling divers to progress through a framework of qualifications at their own pace.
BSAC’s Ocean Diver course is the place to start. This entry-level open water diver qualification will equip you with the core skills to dive to a maximum of 20 metres in open water, in the UK and abroad.
With BSAC, diving skills are taught progressively, with each new skill and experience built upon, step-by-step. The blend of theory, swimming pool and open water skills sessions along with continual technique practice enables you to develop your diving in a safe and enjoyable way.
With BSAC there are five internationally-recognised diver grades, from the entry-level Ocean Diver through to First Class Diver.

Get started today! To learn to scuba dive with iDive will cost you around £250.
Training, diving and qualifying with iDive is great value. The upfront costs for adults are just over £100, and then around £150 over the course of your training.
This includes your BSAC membership fee, branch fee and other sundries such as training packs, kit hire and dive site entrance fees.
This is the best value scuba training we think you’ll find!
As a beginner, you will have lots of questions about scuba diving equipment. Do I need all the dive kit from the very start? How expensive is it to get all the kit I need?
Once you start your Ocean Diver training, it’s a good idea to purchase your own basic gear – a mask, fins and snorkel.
When you progress to open water you will require a wetsuit or drysuit. These can be borrowed/hired from our club, but you may want to purchase your own to ensure a good fit and familiarisation. It is often only when you are qualified that divers obtain their own full set of gear, although some prefer to hire it, especially when travelling overseas.
As with most specialist gear, there can be a huge range in prices, but budget on £100 upwards for a pair of fins, mask and snorkel. Wetsuits for UK diving start from around £150 and drysuits from £500, going up to over £1,000 for a top-end drysuit. To fully equip a diver, expect to pay around £1,500 although if your kit is well-maintained this will be a long-term investment.
