A Cornish Diving Experience to Remember

The iDive team enjoyed a fantastic week exploring the waters of Mullion and Porthkerris, taking on reefs, wrecks and the much-loved scallop run. The trip delivered everything we expect from a club adventure: great diving, plenty of wildlife and just enough chaos to keep things interesting. Divers visited a mix of sites including the Volnay wreck, the Manacles and Drawna Rocks, with conditions offering good visibility and plenty to see. Marine life was out in force all week, with sightings of dogfish, starfish, squid, lobster, crayfish, jellyfish, spider crabs and even Risso’s dolphins. But octopus were in abundance on many dives:

Alan and Ian spent part of the trip “befriending” the local dogfish and spider crabs, much to everyone’s amusement.

and of course, no club trip would be complete without a few mishaps. One lost reel, one lost fin, forgotten regs and several drysuits that behaved more like wetsuits all added to the running jokes of the week.

Here’s ian trying to find a leak in a fully inflated drysuit:

Despite this, the diving remained safe, fun and full of memorable moments. The highlight for many was the scallop run, where the whole group teamed up to gather and prepare scallops for an evening feast. Joe, Alan and Vivek cooked up an incredible meal that brought everyone together after a long day on the water.

Alongside the diving, members picked up new skills in fishing, boat handling, dive management and scallop preparation. Evenings were spent in the pub or restaurant sharing stories of incredible underwater finds adding to the sense of community that makes the club what it is.

A brilliant week of diving, teamwork and laughter from start to finish, and another reminder of why the iDive BSAC family is such a great group to explore the ocean with.
