Diving the SS Forth (off Felixstowe) May 2026

Waves Shape

Six club divers dived on the the SS Forth off Felixstowe recently. Diving off Felixstowe is generally poor due to poor water clarity but, occasionally, the visibility clears sufficiently to allow safe diving.

The Forth was built in 1886 and sank in 1916 after striking a mine about 14NM from Felixstowe. It lies upright in about 28m of water and stands up about 6m from the seabed.

We dived the HW slack and had about 3m visibility on the top of the wreck. There were lots of things scattered about including: a loo from the heads; portholes; the ships name etc. There was plenty of life on the wreck including big shoals of pouting, lots of spider crabs and edible crabs, wrasse, tompot blennys etc. A really nice dive and we hope to do more diving off Felixstowe, providing the weather and viz cooperate.
